Synopsis
During 43 years, from 1883 to his death in 1926, Claude Monet lived in Giverny. Exactly half his life. When he settled down in his Normandy house, a new life began for the painter. He started a brand new pictorial adventure: series, that he developed with Wheels, Poplars, Cathedrals, and finally Nympheas, the most important one, which kept the artist busy during 25 years.
In Giverny, Monet started also a new family. A widower withtwo children, he settled down with Alice Hoschedé, a mother of six, whom he married in 1892. Away from the capital city’ rumours, Claude Monet found his way and took painting to the highest level of an adventure that enlightened the twentieth century.
The film recounts Monet’s life in Giverny through letters and family pictures – most of them unpublished – set in perspective with nowadays’ settings.
